Culture at Canva Pty Ltd

9.8
9.8 rating for Culture, based on 6 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
People are very welcoming, we're very goal oriented but also not forgetting to celebrate when a goal is hit, plus we have a seasonal gathering where the company gets to showcase projects to everyone, giving us an incredible visibility on what is going on within the company. As one of our values stated, everyone always aspires to be a force for good on and off work.

The company has a great vibe. Team structure is flat, a lot of cross teams communication and everyone is friendly and helpful. There are team outings every one or two months.

Fairly flat structure. The company has a lot of different clubs that meet up after hours, and teams have a monthly outing budget to go do something fun together.

We have clubs, and I have made friends from the clubs and we do fun activities together!

There is little explicit structure - everyone is encouraged to voice their thoughts. Though there is definitely some healthy implicit hierarchy which assists with decision making and coordination. This has emerged as we've grown. Cooperation definitely exists between teams (and within), it is common to assist other teams (sometimes in completely different parts of the company). People are aware that we're all driving towards the same company goals. Canva does well at encouraging us to socialise, by doing the following; Giving each team a monthly budget to be spent on team activities, giving funds whenever milestones are met so that a celebration can be had, encouraging us to have coffee chats with random colleagues (I do one every 1-2 weeks), organising office-wide celebrations each "season" (our name for quarter) and more (including how we have a team called the "vibe team").
