Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
There is a lot of socialising amongst colleagues, in and out of work. We have monthly drinks, and plan social events e.g. fun runs, Australian Open, meals at restaurants.

Flat structure. Partners are incredibly approachable, as are the rest of the lawyers in the team. Incredible support staff. Really down to earth and the firm really invests in its people. Lots of teamwork, great to bounce ideas off one another.

Culture is work hard, play hard. There is a hierarchy however graduates are given the opportunity to run with things if they request to do so. There is a great deal of teamwork and it is very social amongst the graduates.

Lots of socialising with colleagues and events like the Fun Run and Christmas Parties
Intern, Melbourne
Flat structure and provides opportunities to take on the right kind of challenging work, respect for work-life balance and peoples health, lots of socialising opportunities with colleagues.

Very friendly, social and helpful team. Hours are good for most vacation clerks (generally 9.00 am-5.30 pm). Lots of firm events. In commercial litigation, there is a clear hierarchy, but that is not detrimental to your experience.
Intern, Melbourne
Corporate team is very outgoing, regular team drinks but most people are also open to catching up individually.

My workplace has a culture that is very much based on teamwork, it is a supportive environment where people work hard. There is a strong social culture especially amongst the juniors. The experienced members of the firm have a strong focus on mentoring and junior development.

HSF has the perfect balance of focus and ensures all tasks are completed as well as a work-life balance. The ability to catch-up with colleagues and go to pre-planned events is refreshing.
Intern, Melbourne
Fairly flat structure in my team (except for some partners). Socialising amongst colleagues is great fun - we all get along well. Teamwork / cooperation is really high level.

Very social firm - always different events to participate in (i.e. yoga, fun-runs, drinks, trivia). The hours vary depending on work. People are very perceptive to people's wellbeing and health. Lots of collaboration with colleagues. Juniors have a "voice" to speak up about areas they are passionate about.

Varies largely throughout different parts of the firm - some are excellent and support flexible working. Others are overly hierarchical and inflexible. Socialising varies greatly between teams. Team culture is far more important than firm culture.
