8.5
8.5 rating for Training, based on 16 reviews
Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
As a graduate developer, you start the program with 2 weeks of bootcamp to get up to speed on C++, basics in trading, and the development processes at Optiver. Then throughout the year there are also weekly training sessions held to learn more about different areas of the business. Teams also do regular knowledge shares and there are other training sessions organised throughout the year by the Talent team. We also have a lot of our course content on our wiki in the "Optiver Library" for anyone to access at any point in time.
Graduate, Sydney
3 months training combination classroom and simulated trading. Good head of education who provides regular feedback, as well as meeting some of the top traders on the floor who provide advice. 3 months training on floor really good and constant informal training from senior traders in your squad.

Formal training along with presentations from subject matter experts.

A lot of industry specific training (C++, options theory)

The first 3 months are spent training on simulators to gain an understanding of the basics of trading, before you are put on the floor alongside an experienced trader to learn from them. This gives you a great way to learn by doing. Throughout this process I've learnt about the working of financial markets, basic programming, strategic thinking and various teamwork skills.
